I am new to the Sparks/Reno area and just joined the GBFS. However, I see little activity here at the site. However, someone must be out there..! Or, was that Carl Sagan? Smile

Anyway, I was wondering how would I be able to get a screening for a film of mine? It is a complete film - nearly 2 hours in length. Professional look. I will gladly disuss further. Would appreciate any advice...

..thanks.

Craig

Hi Craig,

You should definitely contact Steve Savage, our man in charge of film programming. You can email him at steve@gbfs.org. I know he is always up for showing the work of local filmmakers. However, you should know that we currently only have the ability to screen 16mm films. Our hope is to one day obtain a high quality digital projector, but due to the high expense, it won't be happening any time soon. Still, renting a digital projector is always a possibility.

If you are still interested in filmmaking, you should check out the Reno Filmmaker's Co-op (http://www.sierracinema.net/RFC/forum). It was started just a few months ago by our former president, David McGraw, and contains a small but talented group of people who are anxious to make some movies.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Getting busier these days. Thank you for replying with the info on screening a film here and contacting Steve Savage. I am still working with an associate in getting the film up here; as, it was shot in Albuquerque. We currently, have it available to show in VHS thisclose to DVD. However, it was filmed in 16mm.

That being said, I am eager to get started on a film project. I consider myself a 'newbie' in this, but ideas are always flowing and my daily thought process seems to be in 'scenes.' LOL

take care....

Craig

Craig-- Depending on the length of your film, we may be able to show it on Mon., Aug 28. On that date, we're bringing a filmmaker up from San Francisco to present his work. Most of his films are on 16mm, but one of them is on DVD so we'll have to rent a video projector for the evening. --Steve.

I just re-read Craig's 1st posting and saw his film is about 2-hours long. Would Craig like to show an excerpt from the film on Aug. 28? If you're interested in networking with other filmmakers in our area, you should check out the sierracinema site of the Reno Film-Makers' Cooperative.
