DESERT FURY

Director: Lewis Allen
Year: 1947
Runtime: 95 min.
Country: USA
Language: English
Color: B&W
Format: 16mm

Two people have returned to the small desert town of Chuckawalla. The first is Paula (Lizabeth Scott), the beautiful and spoiled daughter of the community's most powerful citizen, Purple Sage Casino owner Fritzi Haller (Mary Astor). The second is gambler and racketeer Eddie Bendix (John Hodiak), a man who years before may or may not have killed his wife. Of course, Fritzi doesn't want to see Paula and Eddie get together and, naturally, the two are drawn to one another.

"The suggestive undertones, combined with the camp appeal of the histrionics and the lame plot turns, give FURY an entertainment value that it otherwise would sorely lack." — Craig Butler, All Movie Guide
