Frank and Lenore Davies' joyful anticipation of the birth of their second child suddenly turns to horror when the newborn fanged and clawed infant violently kills the entire attending obstetric team in the delivery room then escapes the hospital to crawl through and terrorize the city of Los Angeles. Writer-director Larry Cohen asks the audience to suspend disbelief in this one outrageous event, but for the rest of the movie, he logically develops its aftermath as a family tragedy, a sensational news story, an American business problem, and a local law enforcement challenge. John Ryan and Sharon Farrell are excellent as the monster-baby's traumatized parents. | |||||||

A cautionary tale showing the perils of a) bringing home from the Arctic a specimen of frozen whatsit, b) putting it in the kitchen freezer so that c) the missus finds it, is grossed-out and tosses it on the counter, letting it defrost. This sequel to the 1958 drive-in classic captures the loopiness of the early 70s like no other movie.
