Symphony conductor Sir Alfred De Carter (Rex Harrison) has just returned from travel abroad. In his absence, his brother-in-law August (Rudy Vallee) has taken the liberty of hiring a private investigator to follow his sister Daphne (Linda Darnell), Sir Alfred's wife, because he suspects her of marital infidelity. De Carter is infuriated with him and goes to the private eye's office to give the gumshoe a piece of his mind only to discover there is a basis for August's suspicion. That evening, Sir Alfred conducts a concert with works by Rossini, Wagner and Tchaikovsky. While conducting, he devises three ingenious methods for dealing with his unfaithful wife and her lover. After the concert, De Carter intends to put the first plan into effect, but nothing seems to go right so he proceeds to plan B, and so forth, with hilarious results.

"One of the most sophisticated slapstick comedies ever made. There are so many great lines and situations in this movie that writers and directors have been stealing from it for years." — Pauline Kael, The New Yorker

"A near perfect combination of sound and image. Rex Harrison turns in a devilish performance brimming with wit and style."Motion Picture Guide

"UNFAITHFULLY YOURS is Preston Sturges' most sophisticated and complex creation."
— James Ursini, Magill's Survey of Cinema
