Wall Street exec Bart Hughes (Peter Weller) appears to be in one of those enviable situations a la The Seven Year Itch. The wife and kid have packed off for two weeks in Vermont and Bart's got the beautifully renovated Manhattan brownstone all to himself. Then at work, his boss drops a big reorganization project into his lap. It's while working alone late one night that he starts hearing "house sounds." The kitchen is flooded and the building super from nextdoor thinks a rat chewed through the water line. Soon, Bart is asking for and getting advice from this guy and the clerk down at the hardware store on how to deal with his rat problem. He begins the usual regimen of traps, poison and cat adoption but nothing works. Do-it-yourselfer Bart finally contacts a professional exterminator, but his rat cancels the appointment! It's time to break out the special weaponry and tactics because this is no ordinary rat.

"With a figural rat race at work and a literal one at home, OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN emerges as a nifty contemporary allegory." — Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times

"Nicely acted, tightly written and extremely well directed by George P. Cosmatos, OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN is a better than average hair-curler." — Rex Reed, New York Post

"Most people only think of Ben and Willard when they think of the definitive "rat movie," but consider OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN. It's the real deal." — Rich Rosell, Digitally Obsessed
