Color: Color
Format: 16mm

Young Texas oil executive Mac MacIntyre (Peter Riegert) is sent by his boss Felix Happer (Burt Lancaster) to the Scottish town of Ferness to negotiate the purchase of the fishing village for use as a refinery site and shipping depot. He was selected because his name sounds Scottish even though he's really of eastern European descent. Nevermind that, once yuppie MacIntyre arrives in Ferness he's taken in by the place's quirky inhabitants, slower pace and different ways.

"Thoroughly original. Forsyth has the uncanny ability for making an audience sense that something magical is going on." — Janet Maslin, The New York Times

"A charmingly off-beat comedy with its own sense of logic and quiet humor."
