HIGH C'S

Director: James W. Horne
Year: 1930
Runtime: 25 min.
Country: USA
Language: English
Color: B&W
Format: 16mm

WWI doughboy Charley (Charley Chase) isn't really GI material. He's more interested in pitching woo to French girl Antoinette (Thelma Todd) and making music with his pals than he is in fighting the Germans. His superior officer, Griffin, already has it in for him since Griffin is himself smitten with Antoinette. Charley will do anything to keep the songs a-comin'. When his tenor is shot through the adam's apple, he tricks a German soldier with a lovely yodel into crossing enemy lines to take the American singer's place. When separated from his buddies, he contrives to get himself thrown in the brig from whence he hears beautiful prison harmonies wafting.

ROUGH SEAS

Director: James Parrott
Year: 1931
Runtime: 27 min.
Country: USA
Language: English
Color: B&W
Format: 16mm

In this sequel to HIGH C'S, Charley is released from the brig and is preparing to embark for America. He sneaks Mademoiselle Antoinette aboard ship disguised, unconvincingly, as a soldier. He spends the rest of the voyage keeping Antoinette hidden from the suspicious Griffin and music-making with his re-united pals.
