Jean-Louis Trintignant (The Conformist, Red) is Simon "the Swiss," a master criminal whose last crime, a kidnapping, resulted not only in $1,000,000 ransom money, but also his capture. Now escaped from prison, Simon aims to recover the hidden loot and deceive friend and foe alike about his next move. But sometimes a sharp mind can cut both ways. Will this sly charmer's cunning continue to save him...or will he ulitmately outwit himself?

Claude Lelouch and Trintignant, director and star of the international smash A Man and a Woman, reteam for this deft, witty crime caper filled with thrilling chases, escapes and intrigue. The Crook features all the hallmarks of a classic Lelouch movie (mobile camera, fractured time structure, impressive color palette, lush Francis Lai score) and has proven to be one of the director's most enduring and popular works.
