Woody Allen's warm and wonderful comedy - based on his hit Broadway play - was his first collaboration with Diane Keaton, one that would eventually bring them both Oscars (Annie Hall). Allen plays Allan Felix, a fanatical movie buff with an outrageous recurring hallucination: Humphrey Bogart offering tips on how to make it with the ladies. After his wife leaves him, Allan's married friends Dick and Linda (Tony Roberts and Keaton) fix him up with several eligible young ladies, but his self-confidence is so weak that he is a total failure with them all. Gradually Allan discovers the one woman he truly loves: Linda, his best friend's wife. The final scene is a terrific take-off on Casablanca's classic ending, complete with roaring plane propellers, heavy fog and Bogart-style trench coats.
